Sunday, April 13: Blinkers Off Day at the Races!

This Sunday, there is going to be an article about me on the cover of the race program, and I’d like you to come out and enjoy the races with me!  By you, I mean you — whether you live and breathe horse racing, or you’ve never seen a horse race in your life.  Now that the weather is warmer, it’s a great time to join me at Hawthorne Race Course.  Come watch the races, see the horses up close in the paddock, meet some of my favourite people about the track, and see firsthand why Hawthorne rocks.

There will be a race on the program dedicated specifically to our little shindig — and we’ll all get to go into the winner’s circle for the photograph with the victorious horse, jockey, and connections!  I don’t know how many of you have ever been in a winners’ circle photo before, but I haven’t, so this is really, really exciting.

Hawthorne Race Course is at the corner of 35th and Cicero, which is easily accessible by the 54B CTA bus.  There’s also a huge parking lot, if you’re inclined to come by car.  First post is at 1:50pm, and the races usually go on until about 5:30 or 6.  Feel free to come as early as you wish; I’m probably going to be at the track by 10:30 or 11 to hang out, chat with everyone, and make sure I have my picks for the day together.  Admission is free, and racing programs will be free for everyone who comes out in our group.  Just bring a few bucks for a drink, a hot dog, or a punt on your favourite horse!

Everyone, and I mean everyone, is invited.  Come out, bring your friends, bring your family, bring anyone you’d like!  Just so I can get an idea of who to expect there on race day, I’d appreciate it if you either RSVP on Facebook (if you do that sort of thing), ping me on Twitter, or send me a quick email if you’re planning on coming.

Hope to see you out at the track.  It’s going to be a fabulous time!
