Hawthorne Gold Cup day is here!

In today’s Chicago Railbird, I take an in-depth look at the Grade II Hawthorne Gold Cup.  The field drew a healthy group of eleven: some proven at the Classic ten-furlong distance, some stretching out to try it, and even a couple of marathoners for whom this is shorter than their normal trip.  This adds up to a competitive race, and what should be a thrilling renewal of the fall meet’s flagship race.
