The racing season in Illinois starts again a week from today, with the opening of the Hawthorne spring meet.  In honour of that, today’s Chicago Railbird looks at four Illinois-bred runners to watch.

This is not your usual list of Illinois-breds.  The Pizza Man, La Tia, Work All Week, and the like are nowhere to be found.  Instead, they are runners who have not yet started in an open stakes races who are interesting for some reason: because they are showing some kind of performance, consistency, or even pedigree that makes them exciting in the coming year.
