The Hawthorne season starts up today! With that, Chicago Railbird returns to its regularly scheduled program of looking at local races.
This week, I focus on trainer Rusty Hellman, who has four horses in over the first two days of the new meet. He never brings a huge string of horses, and never has a lot of starters over the course of the spring session. However, his win and in-the-money percentages are quietly high, making him one to watch over the next two and a half months at Hawthorne.
