Picks and Ponderings: Scott Becker Sweeps the Sprint Stakes

The first stakes day at Hawthorne has drawn to a close, and it was a pretty good one for trainer Scott Becker.  Most of his horses have been live throughout the meet, but today’s pair of six-furlong stakes races for Illinois-breds showed a new level of dominance.  He ran two horses in each of the stakes races.  At the end of each, there was so much of the Stiritz green and red crossing the wire in the front of the pack to make anyone wonder whether double vision was setting in.
