Arlington selections: 6.20.15

The off-turf scratches led to some late-moment handicapping and re-handicapping.  However, here are my selections for all eight races at Arlington, adjusted for poly and scratches, including commentary on my top selection in each race.

If you have any questions, tweet me at @rogueclown or leave a comment!

Race 1: Flathead River (2), Quittin Time (5), Surf Cast (4)
Inside speed was playing well yesterday, and Vicente Gudiel has it in spades with Flathead River.  If that holds, he should run this field off their feet.

Race 2: Immoral Lifestyle (1), Lady Dozer (6), Lydia’s Angel (5)
Immoral Lifestyle drops in class here, and she gets the always-dangerous Vicente Gudiel as inside, lone speed.

Race 3: Tapnfire (2), Voluptuous (5), Aunt Sherri (1)
Tapnfire was the choice for yielding turf, though remains worth it on poly as well. She is second in one start on poly, and should be fit on the cutback from 1 ½ miles against GIII company last out.

Race 4: Kitburn (3), Madamoiselle Bond (8), Fifth and Market (7)
In this paceless affair, Kitburn is the closest thing this field has to speed. With the race scratched down to four, early speed really does become the gift that keeps on giving.

Race 5: Dark Humorista (8), Flying Butterfly (1), Clever Yank (9)
Dark Humorista is, on paper, the fastest horse of the bunch, and also the only credible speed in this field. In a field scratched to five, he should run away with this race.

Race 6: Out of Mischief (8), Value Voucher (11), Chicory Blue (5)
Trainer Michael Stidham has been hot, and his runners tend to come back running off of lays. He is firing bullets like it’s his job, so expect Out of Mischief to be fit and ready. For further analysis, read this weekend’s Chicago Railbird.

Race 7: Repeat Afleet (7), Spark Kit (1), Awesome Venture (8)
Watch the tote on this one. Repeat Afleet looks so much the one to beat on the wash off to polytrack, as well as the class drop. Anywhere near his 8/1 morning line is the overlay of the day. However, Spark Kit has also shown good early speed, and if inside speed is holding, he could be home free.

Race 8: Large Scale (10), Friendly Ghost (8), Love You Mon (2)
Large Scale should be forwardly placed, just off the factions, and has shown good polytrack form. He broke his maiden at this distance at Arlington, and should benefit from the stretch-out more than anyone here.
