Picks and Ponderings: 2015 Hanshin Cup Recap

The stakes portion of the season continued at Arlington Park with today’s Hanshin Cup (GIII), a one-turn mile over the Arlington main.  The rain may have slowed it down, but the speed-friendly track profile made the race a game of chess once both of the speed horses in the field scratched.  When all was said and done, that game was won by a horse who had never tried polytrack before, trained by a veteran who had not seen the winners’ circle in an Arlington stakes race in almost a decade.
