Million Week began a few days ago, but past performances finally came out yesterday. Things became that much more real, and that much more hectic.
Three of my previews of Arlington International Festival of Racing contests are online at Picks and Ponderings so far:
My previews of the Arlington Million and the Beverly D will be going live on ShapperDaCapper soon, and I will link to them here once they are around.
Paul Mazur and I have also been at morning workouts throughout the week; our dispatches from Wednesday and Thursday are at Picks and Ponderings, and jam-packed with pictures of stakes horses.
Of course, I saw a few more things throughout the days..
Girardoni got one last practice spin racetrack on Wednesday morning. She would return for a race on Thursday.
Pinchme I’mdreamin is my new horse crush. She is a two-year-old Henrythenavigator filly out of Jabber. That Jabber tree is one of my favourite Illinois-bred families. Jabber is the second dam of Mischief N Mayhem, and the dam of the ageless River Bear. She went to Steve Manley’s barn about a month ago, and took a gallop around the track Wednesday.
Though Panama Hat may be the stakes horse, the grey steals the show.
Watsdachances (foreground) spent her paddock schooling time showing off her ears. Stephanie’s Kitten was all business.
Girardoni…majestic in the morning, cute and grey in the afternoon. She finished third in Thursday’s Arlington finale, getting the worst of a three-way win photo.
Happy Million week!
