Hawthorne full-card selections and analysis: 1.2.16

Today is the final day of the Hawthorne fall meet.

Over at Danonymous Racing, you can read my selections for the entire card, with full analysis of each race.  Today’s closing day card at Hawthorne features nine races.  With everything from a three-year-old fillies’ maiden race to a salty starter-optional, there is a little something for everyone at Hawthorne today.

So, head over to Danonymous Racing, and get ready for Hawthorne’s seasonal bow!

My piece was submitted before scratches.  Now that Hawthorne has posted its scratches, it has changed a few of the races.

My original third selection in the second, Gracious Diva, has been scratched.  She was not one of the speed horses, meaning Due to Grace and Ms Trish S remain strong contenders here.  Among the rest, Braveheart Native (1) looks like the strongest candidate to take a share.  Her maiden win did come from off the pace, and she comes into this race second off the layoff.  Her last out race would not beat these, but she has back form against much classier company than she faces today.

In the third race, Lakota Rose is the top selection, but her saddle cloth number is 7 — not 1.

The top selection in the fifth race, Tall Grass Cat, also scratched.  My original opinion that this is the “ALL” button race of the day still stands.  Quittin Time scratches into being the top selection, and should get a smart ride with Chris Emigh aboard.  Still, my analysis of the rest of the field remains, and only Flying Butterfly would be a huge surprise to see in the winners’ circle.
