This Saturday’s card at Arlington features a pair of contentious turf route stakes for older Illinois-bred grass horses.
The Black Tie Affair, for open company, features a huge contingent from the Block barn, including last year’s dead-heat winner of the Cicero Handicap, Bold Rally. The Mike Spellman Memorial Handicap, for fillies and mares, features the local return of several very classy Illinois-bred turf horses: Lovely Loyree, Prado’s Sweet Ride, and defending champion Cabana.
