For Episode 156 of Chicago Race of the Day, we return to the maiden ranks: race 4 at Hawthorne on Sunday (yes! Sunday racing!) is a maiden special weight sprint, six furlongs on the dirt, that drew a field of nine two-year-olds. With almost everyone being either a surface-switcher or a first-time starter, handicapping the race is a brimming mix of pedigree considerations, trainer angles, and good old fashioned pace projection.
