Saturday’s feature at Hawthorne is the second and final stakes race of the meet, the Jim Edgar Illinois Futurity. The race drew a field of nine Illinois-bred juvenile colts and geldings to go six and a half furlongs on the dirt. Just like its fillies’ complement, it features a mix of more proven horses, maidens with a bit of running, and some first-time starters: so let’s make our way through the field!
