Live racing in Chicago is on hiatus until February 20.  Until then, Chicago Railbird will instead be looking at a series of historical and pedigree topics that connect to Illinois racing.

This week, I look at the important Illinois broodmare Taxable Deduction.  She did not herself race in Illinois, but she has produced a whole herd of Illinois-bred foals who can run.  I look at what she did on the track, what her progeny have done, and what connections to follow across all of her progeny…since she may have a few more runners over the next few years.
